Vance, John - John Vance Journal, by LaDell Vance. This is the original as well as the transcription of the Journal kept by John Vance as he crossed the plains with the Mormon Pioneers in 1847. This was not the original company of Brigham Young, but the follow-on company that left in June. It is extremely detailed and well written with many historical anecdotes. LaDell has also printed this book which has the left page with the original and the right page is the transcription. You can email him to purchase one.
